when i was in my twenties i bought a set of stone carving tools. a small hammer and some chisels. found a chunk of limestone. i set up in my parents garage. three hours flew by before i looked up my first session with the stone. i had never been so absorbed in anything in my life
in 1994 a marble carving of a female torso was juried into an annual show in los alamos, new mexico a another piece won a blue ribbon in the plymouth, indiana blueberry festival show
homer used to say to me, "john, just pick one thing and focus on that and you will be successful."
trouble is..i've never been able to do that
